Car Park

The process of DDCL becoming the owners of the new building, involved an asset transfer from Kirklees Council. At the same time, DDCL also became the owners of the car park and is therefore responsible for its maintenance. This means we have to raise the funds to maintain it. We know the car park is a valuable resource to our local community and DDCL trustees want it to be reasonably used by anyone. However, spaces are limited and, in view of this, we’d like to make clear our preference that the car park be used firstly by:

• Users of DDCL’s services – library, café, gift shop, regular community groups and those attending events, both in the daytime and evening
• Customers of local businesses.

Last year the DDCL trust spent nearly £10,000 renovating the car park, to keep it in good condition and easier to use. When you use the car park occasionally, please make a donation in one of the collecting boxes. These are located in DDCL’s building and in many of our village shops.
