Donations

Our community building was built and is maintained thanks to:

The work of a committed group of local volunteers

The financial and other support given by a wide range of donors and local businesses.

We are very grateful for the many donations we have had and continue to receive from:

Those made locally in our collecting tins to our Supporters Club members and

The large number of individual donations.

Individual donors include: John & Joan Hummerstone

John and Joan formed part of the Denby Dale community for over 60 years and made countless long-lasting friendships along the way.

They were involved in many and varied village activities, ranging from early amateur dramatics in the Pie Hall to latterly supporting the Friends of the Denby Dale Church Field.

Both believed passionately in the value of libraries, and in the pleasure and learning to be gained from reading.

Their daughters, Amelia and Elspeth, who also called Denby Dale “home” for many years, are proud to honour their parents’ wishes by making a donation to Denby Dale library.

Donations have been crucial to us, since we established the Denby Dale Community Project in 2013.It took 4 years to raise over the £240,000 required to build our new community building.

We are very grateful for the many donations we received during this, our construction phase, from those made locally in our collecting tins to the large number of individual donations from a wide range of organisations.

We would like to thank our key donors for their significant donations:

Kirklees Council

Delivering information for individuals, businesses and organisations about this area in the Yorkshire Pennines area of England.

Denby Dale Parish Council & Denby Dale Area Committee

Denby Dale Parish Council serves the semi-rural parish of Denby Dale within the Metropolitan District of Kirklees. The Parish Council is also supportive of the local community through its annual grant scheme.

A number of charitable trusts:

  • Garfield Weston Foundation
  • Cheridan Raithby
  • Huddersfield Common Good
  • Sir George Martin.

Local businesses Nisa who made a significant donation and Yorkshire’s Finest who chose us as the nominated charity at their 2015 charity ball and raised over £4000 in the process.

The Emley Players ran three Murder Mystery evenings for us, at no charge and enabled us to raise over £1,500.

We are lucky to live in a supportive and proactive local business community. This long list of individuals and businesses helped us during our construction phase, by donating their expertise and/or materials, either at reduced rates or free of charge. We thank them all!
